Icebreaker 2022

5/19/2022

Ask anyone who attended. They will tell you, the Icebreaker this year was great! About 80 members and guests sat down to a wonderful seafood buffet on Saturday, May 14. "The food was hot, delicious, and plentiful," was a recurring comment from those who attended. "Our table was continuously cleared, and we never had to wait on drinks," was another. The dinner started with a salad bar and grilled shrimp, followed by quantities of lobster, crab legs, fish, prime rib, and scallop shish-kabobs. Not to mention the corn bread with honey butter; and chocolate cake and lemon mousse for desert.
A big thank you goes to Lynn and Donna for making the shrimp and kabobs. And let's not forget to give another big thank you to Lisa and her crew for making this the best Icebreaker in several years!

Clean Up/Flagpole Up...

5/9/2021

May 8 was clean up day. Not only did the members come together to help get the Club looking great for the new season, but it coincided with getting our refurbished flag pole put up as well. Several volunteers helped rake the front lawn, sweep the promenade, and pick up trash from around the campus. At the same time, a special group of workers hired by the Club (and assisted by Club member volunteers) worked on getting our flagpole put back up in its place. The flagpole has had nothing done to it since 1979, so it was taken down, repainted, re-roped, new pulleys added, and put in the ground with some strong welding. A large crane was required to lift the flag pole and set it in place along with welders to weld the pieces together and  weld the pole to its base.
After the work was done, everyone enjoyed complimentary hot dogs and beverages, provided by the Staff, to let members know how much the Club appreciates their sense of community. When you get a chance, give a shout out to the Board, Staff, and Members for contributing their time to make this a successful clean-up day.

Commodore's Dinner

3/30/2021

The board, along with Commodore Bower, would like to thank each and every member that attended the 2021 Commodore’s Dinner. Jinnger Moore did an amazing job organizing the event; thank you Jinnger! A special thank you to Ben & Sonya Gruner for hosting the event at their wonderful facility, as well as Ludovico’s for the delicious food.
We had a great turnout, with about 80 members and guests.  The auction of baskets, provided by the board members plus Dick Gruner, raised an impressive $3,650.00! Thank you to all who bid on the wonderful baskets.
It was a great night to see old friends and meet new ones.  We are extremely excited for the upcoming season and cannot wait to see you all at the Casper Boat Club!  Remember, the Club opening is April 16th.

Fireworks 2019

7/11/2019

Big Thank You to Fireworks Volunteers!
Once again the fireworks were set up and managed by our own CBC members. This is a major project to complete during July 3-5, which includes transferring of fireworks/casings, set up on the island, and dismantling and returning everything to the Club. While some of the fireworks were delivered set up incorrectly, our team made them all work and put on a great show. Let's thank Extreme Performance for donating the use of their barge for transport, and Karst Motorsports for moving the fireworks storage unit to and from the front dock.
And let's not forget our own CBC members who coordinated, managed, transported, set up and took down all of the fireworks: Rob Vondra, Tom Stokes, Darin Rodgers, Pat Burgen, Larry Stevens, Ken Denman, Rick Means, Deo Carmichael, Nathan Vondra, Austin Vondra, Rich Jamison, Janet Jamison, and Terry VanFelt.

Fireworks Finale
The finale is always a great part of the fireworks display. This year it rocked! While there were some additional fireworks after the finale, it did not take away from this display centerpiece.

The movie at right was filmed by new member Brenda B. and the original is posted on her FB page if you'd like to view it. Thanks to Brenda for making this video public for all to see!

Members Contribute to CBC Community

6/17/2019

It's not only the Board that contributes to the betterment of the Club; CBC members contribute as well. Often you can find members bussing tables in the Club on a busy night, helping someone launch a boat, picking up trash, or cleaning up their campsite. Here are a few recent examples of how some Club members have contributed to the CBC Community. Obviously, this is not an all inclusive list. Many thanks to ALL of our Club members for contributing to the Club Community.

Thanks to the Board for placing these pet waste stations around campus. Lynn B., Jeremy B., and Braden B. did the actual installations. You will find them at both back bays, front dock, point, and both beaches. Please use them and encourage other members to use them as well.
Picture
Thanks to Carol L. for ordering and organizing our logo outerwear. There are a variety of colors and sizes for men and women and these can be purchased at the Club (approx $40). Inquire at the bar. If demand is high, we will order additional items.
Picture
Thanks to Chris T. for donating the new glass rock for the firepit. It was definitely overdue for a little sprucing up. This will make the firepit even more enjoyable for this summer season.
Picture
Thanks to Dan C. for donating several chairs and tables (2 additional chairs and table not shown). These are great additions to the beach house.
Picture
Thanks to Don and Laura C. for replacing the entry way to back bay docks. This will make it much safer for members as they walk to their boats.
Picture
Thanks to Nancy M. and Leah S. for painting the bathrooms in the Club. This is a time consuming job and few people want to attempt it. These efforts are much appreciated!
Picture
Thanks to CJ E., Brad C., and Mark B. for repairing the dock and moving it back to its proper place. Docks often need repaired due to the water action. It's great that we have members who have the skill set to make these repairs.
Picture
Thanks to Jeremy, Braden, and Lynn, for putting up the wind sock this year. Many people notice this as the first thing they see when they come to the Club, indicating the Club is open for the season.
Please note this is not an all inclusive list as only projects that are observed or reported are listed here. If you know of any other members who have contributed to the Club, by doing a small project here or there, please leave a comment identifying the person(s) and what they did. Many thanks to ALL of our Club members for contributing to the Club Community.

Canyon to Curve 2019

6/1/2019

Facing a gray, cold morning, the Canyon to Curve participants were hoping the rain would hold off long enough for them to complete the race. And it did. Thirty-six people participated in the 11th Annual Canyon to Curve Fun Run/Walk. Participants faced the cold and walked, jogged, ran, or biked the 5 miles to the Canyon, back to the curve, and back to the Boat Club. When finished, participants took advantage of the buffet breakfast. Bloody Ben’s were bartended by Ben G. and the event was organized by Sonya G. Thanks to the CBC staff for providing food and drink services for the Fun Walk. The Canyon to Curve Fun Run/Walk is an annual event hosted by the Casper Boat Club and is open to the public. See results and pics below.

Icebreaker

5/28/2019

Can you say seafood-fest? That’s what greeted members who attended the 2019 Icebreaker on May 18. Luscious lobster, sizzling scallops, and (pre) cracked crab legs were just a few of the items on the menu. Additional food included various shrimp, roast beef, pork loin, veggies, and salad bar. Over 90 people attended, and virtually all members gave a thumbs up on the quality and quantity of the food. In addition, having the food in the bar and allowing people to move from the dining room to the bar through the hallway, proved to be a popular change in serving the buffet style menu. Most everyone agreed the cost of the buffet was a great value. A big thank you to the servers, cooks, and bartenders for making this a very successful event. Make sure you attend next year!

Sense of Community

5/11/2019

Clean up day is a time to give something back to the Club, and members did just that on May 11. Several members braved the morning cold to rake, sweep, pick up trash, clean/move furniture, and whatever else they could do to get the Club ready for the summer season. One group raked the front lawn, while another picked up large items laying around the grounds to be discarded. Some people cleaned the Promenade area and others got the front patio looking awesome. Walking the grounds and picking up trash was the final cleanup effort (something that can be done anytime of the season). Afterwards, everyone enjoyed complimentary chili dogs and coffee provided by the staff. Many, many thanks to the members who came out to help get the Club in shape for the new season. Thanks to Julie, Jinnger, CJ, Mark B., Pat, Festi, Gary, Niki, Jim, Izzy, Mark, and Cindy. You are all awesome!

Kentucky Derby Excitement

5/11/2019

Yes. The Kentucky Derby has always been known to be the "most exciting two minutes in sports," and this year's Derby certainly lived up to that reputation. A muddy track and no clear pick for the winner, made the Derby extra exciting to watch this year. After placing bets, the members who attended the Derby party on May 4, cheered their horses on to victory. At the conclusion of the race, those who bet on horse number seven, were ready to enjoy their winnings. But wait! An objection was lodged and the winner was no longer the winner! The winning horse (Maximum Security) was disqualified, making the second place horse (Country House), the winner of the 2019 Kentucky Derby.
Many Club members attended dressed in their finest Derby attire, and prizes were given for best dressed and best hat...not to mention the winnings earned by placing bets. A great time was had by all as the traditional drinks, Mint Julep and infused Strawberry Lemonade, were served along with some great food. Each year, the Kentucky Derby seems to get better, and it's quickly becoming the "kick-off" event for the new season. Don't miss it next year!

Commodore Party 2019

3/16/2019

The Commodore's Party was held Saturday, March 2 at The Hangar. Over 50 members attended the gathering to enjoy conversation, cocktails, and a dinner choice of chicken, ribeye, or salmon.
Thanks to the five past Commodores who attended, along with members of our current Board, who provided generously for the drawings. Board member C.J. Edwards could not attend due to an injury. We  wish him a speedy recovery. (more board info here)
Thanks also go to some local businesses who donated: Alpine Motorsports, Western Divers, Driven Powersports, White's Marine, NAPA, Extreme Performance.
All in all, great party and a great way to kick off the 2019 summer season!
