Commodore Nick Hopkins
Nick is a native of Casper who graduated from NCHS, and then from Casper College with an
Associates in Nursing. He currently works at Wyoming Medical Center as Nurse manager of the
Progressive Care Unit. Nick and his wife Jana have been married nearly 14 years. Nick's family
started sailing in 1979 and joined the Casper Boat Club in 1980. "I grew up at the lake and the club.
Most of our first dates were at the lake sailing," Nick says. Nick and Jana continue their fun on
Alcova on their 27 foot sailboat where they spend as much time as possible. They have two
daughters Tiffany and Brooke, who love to be in the water. "The club has always been a safe
and fun environment to grow up with. I wanted to be on the board because I have been a member
most of my life and want to give back to the club. My top goal as the commodore is to keep the
club a fun, family place. I grew up there with many great memories and now I have the opportunity
to pass that on.”

Vice Commodore Lee Burgess and his wife Terry were members of the Casper Boat Club during the 1980’s.

Lynn Burgess
Lynn has lived his entire life in Casper and
his childhood memories began with fishing on Alcova Lake with his
father when he was just starting school. His parents were
proprietors of several restaurants in Casper and his many years of
hands-on familiarity with this food service industry has been an
advantage as a board member.
Most of Lynn's professional life has been mechanical and oilfield
related during which he owned a service and equipment business.
He began building and racing hot rods as a teenager, was a mechanic on
drilling rigs and then began building rigs. Hot rods are in the
past and he now throttles his love of speed across the lake.
His proudest moment was when he brought his first boat home in 1979 and
soon made Alcova his year-round home as well as his recreational
love. He served his first term on the CBC board from 1982 to 1985
and is proud he learned from the original founders of the club and
holds their original vision. Those early years included not only
constant dock expansion and the construction of the promenade, but also
the clubhouse renovation. He and his family laid most of the
sandstone terracing and walks that surround the club and grounds, one
rock at a time, mixing the concrete in a wheelbarrow. Lynn served CBC
as an officer during his second term from 2000 to 2004 and assumed the
duties of dock assignment. He also began providing and installing
electric lifts to members at that time.
Lynn served as Commodore in 2007. He spends his lazy time enjoying
his 36-foot boat "Enchantress".
Lynn's term on the board expires December 31, 2013.

lot of time at Alcova. Sonya says, "We enjoy our time at the lake and the boat club in the
summer with our family and friends. Now that we have kids I look forward to giving them
a great experience spending our summers at the lake.” Sonya served as Commodore for the 2009 season.
Sonya's term on the board expires December 31, 2010 |
